LOS ANGELES — One day in jail, the next in Playboy.

Actress Lindsay Lohan, who served hours behind bars Sunday for violating probation on drunken driving and theft charges, will appear in the pages of Playboy next month, the men’s magazine and Lohan’s spokesman confirmed Monday.

“Lindsay Lohan will be featured in Playboy’s January/February issue, which hits newsstands in late December,” Playboy said in a statement.

Separately, Lohan’s spokesman said she had completed a photo shoot, and will be on the cover of the magazine.

“The pictorial is absolutely fantastic and very tasteful, and will be accompanied by an interview that will let readers see another side of Lindsay,” spokesman Steve Honig said.

Speculation about a Playboy photo shoot has captured the media’s attention in recent weeks as Lohan has struggled with her ongoing legal problems. In October, celebrity news outlet TMZ.com said Playboy offered Lohan $750,000 to pose, but the actress wanted $1 million. Playboy countered with a deal near that, TMZ said.

Playboy had no comment beyond its one-sentence statement.

We’re confident that if Lohan had been told this stuff beforehand, they’d never have happened. We’re confident that the latest lawsuit to be thrown at the “Herbie Fully Loaded” star would have never been filed.

You see, it seems that Lohan struck someone in her Maserati. That’s what a certain Nubia Del Carmen Preza claims, at least. Her lawsuit states she has suffered “disabling and serious personal injuries, pain, suffering and anguish” and that she is seeking damages for all her medical expenses and lost time at work.The alleged accident occurred while Preza was walking through a West Hollywood intersection in September 2010.

So, anyway, until a judge settles this thing and tells Lindsay not to hit people with her Maserati, be careful out there. If you hear her rev up, run for your lives.

Lindsay Lohan's probation could be over by March, judge says

Actress Lindsay Lohan was all smiles Tuesday as a judge said she could end her nearly five years of constant watch by the courts in March for probation for driving under the influence and shoplifting.

Los Angeles Superior Judge Stephanie Sautner said Lohan had met her required 12 sessions of community service at the L.A. County morgue and mandatory therapy sessions and is on pace to end probation in March if she completes her 60 days of community service.

"She has done it all on schedule," Sautner said during a hearing in the Airport Courthouse. "Keeping doing what you are doing. You appear to be doing it well."Lohan must still complete 15 more community service days and four therapy sessions by Feb. 22. Saunter said she expects Lohan to have it all wrapped up by March 29.

Lohan, 25, in recent years has made more court appearances than movies following a 2007 DUI conviction and 2011 theft conviction. She has repeatedly violated probation and been jailed five time for short periods.
But facing the prospect of a longer sentence from Sautner and experiencing an uptick in her career with a Playboy cover, she has received glowing probation reports.

At her last hearing in December, Sautner praised Lohan for fulfilling her scheduled responsibilities and promised to end her probation as early as February if she continued on the right path.

Last year, Lohan pleaded guilty to the theft of a necklace from a Venice jewelry store. But she violated probation by missing required workdays at the Downtown Women's Center and other therapy appointments.

Sautner sentenced Lohan to 30 days in jail and ordered her to complete her community service at the morgue, where she is working as a janitor. She spent less than five hours in custody.

In the last couple of months, Lohan has appeared to be back on track.

"Miss Lohan, you have actually done your work," Sautner told her at the December hearing. "You are doing well and I would like to see it continue."

Sautner's tone in recent hearings is removed from the frustration she expressed in October. Last fall, Lohan admitted in court she violated probation by missing required workdays and appointments.

She missed 12 of the 20 scheduled workdays at the Downtown Women's Center that were imposed in May, when she pleaded guilty to the theft of the necklace from a Venice jewelry store.

Lohan also canceled 14 of 19 scheduled appointments for court-ordered psychotherapy, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the case but not authorized to discuss it.

Sautner had warned Lohan that if she failed to meet the terms of her probation, she would be returned to jail for an additional 270 days.

Lohan is required to report to the court each month and was seen last week visiting probation staff.

Lindsay Lohan is expected to receive another glowing report at her next probation progress hearing on Tuesday (January 17).

Determined to prove that she is still a sought after celebrity endorsement, Hollywood's most notorious young actress has appeared recently in ads for little-known brands Philipp Plein and Jag Jeans.

But now the 25-year-old has been given a much-needed boost by popular British fashion label French Connection, which has used a photograph of Miss Lohan in an ad for its new fragrance, FCUK Friction.The steamy shot, which sees the actress frolic in bed with model Petey Wright, was taken by Yu Tsai, the photographer behind her famous Playboy cover at the end of last year.

But the picture was not originally taken with the FCUK Friction fragrance campaign in mind. The label bought the rights to the black-and-white shot after it ran as part of a photo story in Muse magazine in 2010.

Lindsay Lohan was threatening legal action against party planners who allegedly falsely claimed she is appearing at New Year's Eve bash on a famous cruise liner in Dubai.

Lohan's spokesman Steve Honig told TMZ, "Lindsay is not going to Dubai, nor had she ever considered doing so. She will be spending New Year's Eve in Los Angeles with a few close friends and family."

Dubai media carried reports this week saying that Lohan will be one of the VIP guests on board the QE2, which is docked in Dubai, for the biggest New Year's Eve party in town.The famous former Cunard transatlantic liner, which ferried 2.5 million passengers during more than 800 crossings, is now owned by Dubai investment firm Istithmar and moored at the emirate's Port Rashid. Plans to convert the ship into a luxury floating hotel were ditched as a result of the 2008 recession, and her future remains uncertain.

Emirati newspaper The National reported Monday that tickets for the party, priced at 3,000 dirhams ($800) each, were being sold to global A-listers -- and that Lohan was one of the "confirmed names" on the guest list. The paper added that the glamorous affair was being organized by Dubai-based Global Event Management.

Emirates 24/7 also reported Wednesday that Lohan was among the "VIP and celebrity attendees who will grace the occasion," among other actors and sports stars.

Lohan was furious when she found out that her name was being used to promote the event, sources told TMZ.

The troubled star, who recently posed nude for the cover of Playboy, could have commanded a six-figure sum for New Year's Eve appearances, according to TMZ. But she is still in the process of completing 480 hours of community service as part of her probation for stealing a necklace, as well as a 2007 DUI case, and wants to change her party-girl image to stay on the right side of her judge.

Lohan's legal team was writing a cease and desist letter ordering the party planners to stop spreading false rumors about her New Year's Eve plans or face legal action, the report said, adding that the party planners did not respond to a request for a comment.

Los Angeles, Jan 2 (PTI) Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan was left petrified after a stranger reportedly visited her California beach pad and refused to leave.

The 25-year-old had to call the police after an older gentleman knocked on her door and told her he wanted to speak to her, reported TMZ.

Lohan spoke to the man through the door and asked him to leave but he refused. Police received a call minutes later about a trespasser on Lohan''s property.

According to law enforcement sources, cops showed up soon after and arrested the man for trespassing. The man is currently being booked.Lohan has just returned home after spending the holidays in New York with her mother Dina.

Hot on the heels of her comeback Playboy pictorial leak, which led Hugh Hefner to release the issue early, Lindsay Lohan is making headlines because her purse was stolen.

Oh, Lindsay. Lohan, who is on vacation in Hawaii, had $10,000 in cash, her passport and some important court documents that permitted her travel in the expensive designer bag when it was stolen at a party, according to TMZ. The kicker is that Lohan is due back in court Wednesday for a hearing.

There’s even audio that allegedly shows Lohan swearing about the purse theft, saying, “My dad will kill me,” if she ends back in jail. (Listen here.)

The legally troubled actress did get her bag back, TMZ reports, minus the thousands of dollars she had in it. What makes this situation even more sigh worthy is that it actually has happened before. Lohan missed a court hearing in May 2010 after she claimed her passport was stolen in Cannes.

Given the combination of events — a pre-probation hearing trip to Hawaii, taking important documents to a house party — it’s hard to look away. Yet, Lohan says she doesn’t get why she’s a regular tabloid feature.

“I have no idea why there is this fascination with everything I do,” Lohan told Playboy, via Reuters. “I suppose it is all part of this trend of people wanting to know every single detail of a celebrity's life. ... 17 December, 2011 - Amidst the holiday melee, shoppers aren’t rushing to pick up their copy of the much-talked about Lindsay Lohan issue of Playboy this week.

It was one thing to see Lohan’s nude Playboy spread when it was leaked on the Internet last week. It’s another experience entirely to see the 10 pages of photos in person in the magazine, which hit newsstands Friday.

But not many consumers are paying for that experience. In fact, interest seems low in seeing Lohan’s intensely air-brushed impersonation of Marilyn Monroe in glossy print. Fox411 spent Friday morning trolling the shelves of newsstands and gas stations from New York to Philadelphia only to be confronted with the same reality at each: Lohan’s glassy-eyed stare peaking above the backs of more family friendly fare, with no one staring back or making a purchase.“No one has bought it,” was the resounding answer to our query at each stop.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise. Once the photos were leaked, the response to the spread, for which Playboy paid a reported $1 million, were lukewarm across the board.

“I'm not surprised at all. Despite Playboy's hype, there was nothing particularly shocking or new about this shoot. While these shots may have been slightly closer to full frontal than Lindsay's previous shots, they weren't actually full frontal; there was also nothing particularly new about Lindsay dressing up as Marilyn Monroe,” says Lux Alptraum, editor of Fleshbot.com.

“I thought the shots were really boring and didn't really live up to the promises Playboy had made," Alptraum added. "If they'd actually gotten full frontal shots of Lindsay, or come up with a fresher, more interesting concept, there might have been more demand for the photos.”

In an exclusive interview with E! News Hugh Hefner himself admitted that he originally had doubts about including Lohan in the magazine and putting her on the cover.

“It really came as a surprise to me," Hefner told E! "I kind of had mixed emotions about it initially, and then it turned into something bigger than life. "I wasn't quite sure where she was at in her life, obviously. It depends on whether it's Tuesday or Thursday."

The Lohan pictorial was leaked online last week after a hacker found the pictures on a shared computer server. The leak spooked the magazine, which decided to move up their publication date and release the pictures on their own site to try to maximize sales in the wake of the leak.

"Because of the interest & the Internet leak, we're releasing the Lindsay Lohan issue early," Hef himself tweeted.   Playboy reportedly printed thousands of extra copies of the magazine in anticipation of a rush on it.

The entire roll-out for the Lohan Playboy spread has been mired in disaster. After a travel snafu this week, Lohan was unable to make it back from a Hawaiian vacation in order to do her single interview for the shoot with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres. And now that the magazine has hit newsstands without a ton of fan fare, it appears Lohan won’t be giving any interviews about the spread.

Playboy did not return e-mails for comment on the pace of sales since the issue hit stands.

Lindsay Lohan makes good progress on probation

Actress Lindsay Lohan, who is on probation for drunk driving and theft convictions, pleased a judge for a change on Wednesday by completing her court-ordered community service and therapy sessions on time.

"Miss Lohan, you have actually done your work, and not only done it, but done it early," Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner told the actress in court.

Lohan, 25, dressed conservatively in a cream-colored cardigan and trousers, and she smiled and joked with the judge after her progress report came back positive.The "Mean Girls" actress was in court to review the first month of a court-ordered, five-month community service sentence at the Los Angeles County morgue, where she is required to work at least 12 days a month. She also must complete four therapy sessions. She adequately completed both for Wednesday's progress hearing.

Lohan rose to fame as a likable child star of Disney movies such as "The Parent Trap," but has been in and out of trouble -- spending time in rehab and in jail -- since 2007 when she was convicted on drunk driving and drug possession charges.

Earlier this year, the actress pleaded no contest, which is the equivalent of guilty, to stealing a gold necklace from a jewelry story and was sentenced to 480 hours community service at a L.A. women's detention center and the county morgue.

But Lohan failed to adequately perform that sentence, and in October, Sautner angrily revoked her probation and sent her to jail. At the time, the judge called Lohan's previous sentence a "gift" and said, "there's something called looking a gift horse in the mouth."

Lohan served just over four hours in an LA county jail in November due to overcrowding and for the rest of her sentence was assigned to community service at the county morgue and psychological counseling.

Sautner on Wednesday also addressed confusion over Lohan's permission leave California, clarifying that the actress could leave only for work purposes, unless she had completed her assigned 12 days of service and four therapy sessions a month. If finished, she is free to travel at will, the judge said.

Sautner's clarification on vacation came after Lohan took a trip to Hawaii this week to celebrate her sister's birthday, then missed her return flight to Los Angeles on Tuesday for her scheduled interview with chat show host Ellen DeGeneres to promote her upcoming Playboy magazine feature spread.

The missed flight caused numerous celebrity media to speculate that Lohan might again have made a misstep, but she made it to Sautner's court on time. Her next progress hearing is scheduled for January 17, 2012.

You did the 12 days and you completed it early".She then told Lindsay, who returned to Los Angeles after holidaying in Hawaii: "You're doing well. I'd like to see it continue.

Playboy is to release its January/February issue early after nude pictures of troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan leaked online, boss Hugh Hefner said Friday.

The actress, who was reportedly paid nearly $1 million for the magazine spread, appears on the cover seated on a bright red Playboy bunny chair, only just protecting her modesty.

"Because of the interest & the internet leak, we're releasing the Lindsay Lohan issue early," Hefner said on Twitter, adding: "Lindsay Lohan was the top search name on the internet yesterday.

"Hot. Hot. Hot," tweeted Hefner, announcing that the next issue of the magazine will come out next week.

The leaked pictures show the curvy actress channeling Marilyn Monroe, flirting with the camera in a series of soft porn-style poses lying, kneeling or stretching herself voluptuously against red velvet drapery.

The actress had wanted $1 million for the Playboy spread and balked at an initial offer of $750,000 -- but Hefner eventually made an offer near enough to $1 million to entice her, celebrity news website TMZ reported.

Lohan -- once the promising child star of hit Disney movies "The Parent Trap" and "Freaky Friday" -- has a reputation for hard partying and has faced a series of legal tangles over the years.

The celebrity Web site said Lohan got permission for the getaway from her probation officer because she was ahead of schedule racking up court-ordered hours working at the Los Angeles County morgue.

eOnline said Lohan had, in fact, completed the 12 days of duty at the morgue before Dec. 14 as ordered by the judge and had submitted the required paperwork to the court. She also has been dutifully attending court-ordered psychological therapy session.TMZ's source said Lohan also wanted to get herself tanned, rested and ready for the release of her photo shoot in Playboy, which is being moved up.

A source told 'Access Hollywood': "Lindsay has already completed her community service and therapy requirements."

In addition to serving four-and-a-half hours of a 30-day sentence at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California, last month, the 25-year-old star was ordered by Superior Court judge Stephanie Sautner to undergo psychotherapy sessions and serve 423 hours at the county morgue by March 29, 2012.A representative for Lindsay added: "We never comment on Lindsay's community service progress. Suffice it to say she is being diligent and complying with all court-mandated requirements."

The star was recently hailed as "polite and hard-working" by law-enforcement officials at the Los Angeles County Morgue, who claimed Lindsay was keen to finish the required hours and then get a head start on the duties she needs to complete before her second status hearing.

According to the Daily Mail, the troubled star is in talks to join the UK show Celebrity Big Brother and producers have flown to L.A. to "lure her over the Atlantic." "She's a fiery character too, so there are sure to be a some major clashes with other celebrities if we get her in the house."

But whether Lohan agrees or not, there's one major holdup: The star has her plate quite full fulfilling the terms of her new probation and is not allowed to leave the country. (Celebrity Big Brother has a scheduled January 2012 shoot date.)

"We hope that the courts will make a special allowance in this case. There aren’t many more controlled environments than the Big Brother house," an insider tells the Daily Mail.

On November 2, L.A. County judge Stephanie Sautner ordered that so long as Lohan performs 12 days of community service at the L.A. county morgue and attends four psychotherapy sessions before December 14, she will avoid serving an additional 270 days in jail.

If Lohan complies, she will be required to spend an additional 12 days at the morgue and attend four more psychotherapy sessions by January 17. Once that is complete, she is expected to do the same before February 15.

Between February 15 and March 29, Lohan is expected to complete 17 more days at the morgue and attend six psychotherapy sessions, which will wrap up her probation.

As part of Sautner's new conditions, the Mean Girls star is not allowed to leave California without her new probation officer's approval (with the exception of holidays).

"From what I can see of you, you need a structure. And this is a structure," Sautner said. "If you do all of this, then by March 29, you just go about your business and you obey all laws."

The troubled actress is ahead of schedule with her court-ordered community service, having already completed 10 out of 12 morgue duty shifts at the Los Angeles County Morgue with three weeks to go until she appears in court for a status hearing on December 14.

According to gossip website TMZ, Lindsay wants to finish the required hours and then get a head start on the duties she needs to complete before her second status hearing.

Law enforcement officers told the site that the actress has earned a "good reputation" at the morgue as she is "polite, hard-working and never complains".Lindsay is working at the morgue as part of her sentence for breaching the terms of probation which was set following a 2007 driving under the influence (DUI) charge.

Actress Lindsay Lohan was released from jail early Monday morning, just hours after she was booked in, authorities said.

Lohan, 25, checked herself into the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California, at 8:48 p. m. Sunday, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said on its website.

By 3:10 a. m. Monday, Lohan had been released, Sheriff's Deputy Mark Pope said.

Last week, a Los Angeles County judge ordered Lohan to serve a 30-day jail term after she admitted she violated her probation on a necklace theft conviction.

At the time, Los Angeles County Sheriff spokesman Steve Whitmore said it was likely Lohan could be booked in and booked out the same day. "It depends on the fluctuations of the day, what's going on in the jail," Whitmore said.

The actress must work at least 12 days a month at the county morgue until she completes the 53 remaining days on her court-ordered community service, Judge Stephanie Sautner told her. Lohan must also attend 18 psychotherapy sessions.

If Lohan misses any of those goals, she will be returned to jail for another 270 days, the judge ruled.

"This is what we really call putting the keys to the jail in the defendant's hands," Sautner told Lohan.

Lohan's spokesman, Steve Honig, said Monday, "Lindsay is very focused on fulfilling her community service obligation so she can put all of this behind her."

The actress admitted violating her probation during a hearing Wednesday.

"You are not to get house arrest or early release, except for that required by the law," Sautner said.

Whitmore said that the early release program is part of the law, meaning Lohan would likely get out quickly due to overcrowding.

Lohan did a short stint in jail last year.

When Sautner sentenced Lohan to 120 days in jail last May, she ended up serving 35 days of home confinement instead, due to jail overcrowding and state rules that give prisoners credit for good behavior.

It was not immediately clear how many days Lohan will actually serve this month if she ends up getting credit for good behavior.

Prosecutors said Lohan missed 12 of 20 scheduled workdays at a downtown Los Angeles women's center, part of the court-ordered community service imposed in May when she pleaded guilty to stealing a necklace from a Venice, California, jewelry store.

Lohan was already on probation for two drunken driving convictions from 2007.

She also canceled 14 of 19 scheduled appointments for court-ordered psychotherapy, they said.

"From what I see of you, you need a structure," Sautner told Lohan last week. The judge instructed Lohan to return to court each month, starting December 14, to show she is complying with the schedule.

If the actress stays on track, her probation would be eased on March 29, 2012, Sautner said. If she doesn't keep up with the requirements, she will serve the additional 270 days behind bars, the judge said.

The full sentence imposed Wednesday was 150 days for the necklace theft probation violation and 150 days for violating probation on the 2007 drunk driving conviction in Beverly Hills.

While the original sentence included 360 hours of community service at a downtown Los Angeles women's center, the judge said she did not want to put the Skid Row charity through the pain of Lohan again.

When the judge called The Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women, the charity refused to take Lohan on as a worker, "saying you were a bad example," Sautner said.

But Lohan seemed to find a good fit with her work at the Los Angeles County morgue, where Deputy Chief Coroner Ed Winter said she worked four days in the past two weeks cleaning up.

"So, the morgue is willing to keep you," the judge said.

All of her community service work has been transferred there, she said.

In October, the actress' father, Michael Lohan, told HLN's "Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell" program that his daughter shouldn't be in jail, but in rehab.

Michael Lohan was arrested twice in two days last month for violating a court order to stay away from his former girlfriend. CNN learned last week that he is now in an "administrative confinement" cell in the infirmary section of Orient Road jail in Tampa, Florida, where he was awaiting trial.

Lindsay Lohan's legal woes, which began four years ago with two drunk driving arrests, have been compounded by her failure to attend counseling classes.

July 22, 2011 - Lindsay Lohan on Thursday added financial woes to four years of legal problems when she was slapped with a $US1 million assault lawsuit and a court heard she was having problems paying for private counseling. Lohan, 25, whose Hollywood career has been derailed since 2007 by drug and alcohol problems and repeated trips to jail, was ordered to undergo psychological counseling earlier this year as part of her sentence for stealing a gold necklace in January.

But her lawyer told a court hearing on Thursday that the Mean Girls actress had not yet enrolled in therapy because finding low-cost, individual treatment was proving a challenge.

"I find it hard to believe that she can't afford counseling," responded Melanie Chavira, the prosecutor at the Los Angeles City Attorney's office who is overseeing Lohan's case.

Judge Stephanie Sautner replied that she did not wish to speculate on Lohan's finances, but added:

"She needs to get into counseling. I am going to give her 21 days (to enroll).

"I don't know whether she is working or what she is doing to get an income...If she doesn't have the means, maybe she knows someone who can help out."

Lohan's lawyer Shawn Holley said Lohan indicated that finding financial aid would not be necessary.

Thursday's hearing came the same day that a former employee of a California rehab centre filed a $US1 million lawsuit against Lohan.

Dawn Bradley claimed in the civil lawsuit that Lohan yelled at her, threw a phone, grabbed her wrist and twisted it when asked to submit to a breathalyzer test in December at the Betty Ford Center near Palm Springs.

Bradley claimed she suffered "significant injury" to her wrist as well as "post-traumatic stress syndrome requiring several therapy sessions." Bradley is seeking damages of $US1 million as well as medical expenses.

Prosecutors in Riverside County decided earlier this year not to file criminal charges against Lohan over Bradley's allegations, citing insufficient evidence.

Lohan has been to rehab and jail multiple times since a 2007 drunk driving and cocaine possession case. She also served 35 days house arrest in Los Angeles earlier this summer for stealing the gold necklace from a jewelry store.

The child star of The Parent Trap and later Freaky Friday, Herbie Fully Loaded and Bobby, has not made a feature film since the 2010 low-budget action thriller Machete.

However, she is due to start work in the fall on a major movie about New York crime boss John Gotti with co-stars John Travolta and Al Pacino.

The report filed today stated that Lohan has not returned his phone calls on July 12, 13 and 14 nor has she provided verification that she began mandated community service and psychological counseling since she was convicted of shoplifting a necklace from a Venice jeweler.Lohan's attorney Shawn Chapman Holley defended that Lohan has completed some of her required service, which did not impress Judge Stephanie Sautner. Judge Sautner reprimanded Lohan, who has only completed 4 of her 60 days of community service. The judge reminded her that she must complete the community service hours within one year of sentencing or face more jail time.

"I'm not going to give her five extra minutes. I don't want to hear, 'Oh, I couldn't do it because I was on the set of the John Gotti movie," Judge Sautner said.

Here's the lowdown. Geoff and Sofia Kaman, the owners of the Kamofie & Company jewelry store, hired a broker -- Christopher Spencer -- to sell the surveillance tape.

Spencer then cut a deal with the Associated Press, which agreed to sell the tape to various media outlets and give Spencer a cut of the profits that he would share with the Kamans. But we're told the Kamans felt Spencer was withholding a big chunk of their share, so they sent and an email to the Associated Press to see if Spencer was up to no good. In the email they asked, "We were wondering if there have been more payments ..."

Spencer was indignant, and fired off a cease and desist letter to the Kamans, saying, "You do not have any legal right to contact the AP and suggest I've been ripping you off which is what you've done."

Spencer says the Kamans are ingrates, claiming, "I am in disbelief that, after achieving so much in your benefit, you'd be reaching out to someone and suggest that my company or I are not paying you money that's owed to you."

The photos were taken at Lohan’s California home last month while she was still under house arrest. We think it’s safe to say Lindsay has been the most productive person under house arrest ever — she did the VF shoot, filmed a penny auction ad, and scored a role in the new Gotti family biopic with John Travolta.

The Vanity Fair photos are pretty awful. Lindsay looks really old, her hair is overly dyed and she’s kind of channelling the Gotti role she’s slated to play. Maybe its just the lighting in her house?Lohan dishes to the magazine about wanting to go back to acting, hating being locked up and not being guilty. “Unless you’re a killer, I don’t see a reason to stay there,” Lohan said of prison. “I never hurt anyone but myself.” She also mentioned she keeps a gun in her house to fend off intruders.

Our question is for Italian Vanity Fair — wasn’t it rumored that Lindsay would be covering the September issue of the magazine’s American counterpart? And didn’t they say her hair would be peroxide blond and the spread would be shot in her own home because she was under house arrest? Maybe we were wrong, and Lohan was supposed to front the Italian issue all along. We just can’t see Graydon Carter playing second fiddle to, well, anyone. But maybe magazines don’t really talk with their international sisters. UK Vogue put rumored US Vogue cover girl Kate Moss on their August issue, after all.

We’re also really curious as to what makes Lohan so hot to book these days. Lindsay Lohan has escaped jail time again, and now, she's offically allowed to drink alcohol.

At a Los Angeles Superior Court hearing today, judge Stephanie Sautner ruled that the actress did not violate her probation stemming from her 2007 DUI case because there was no order in place to test her for drugs and alcohol.

But Sautner ordered Lohan, who was in court because she failed an alcohol test last week, not to have parties and not have more than one friend at her house at a time. She also told the problem-prone star not to do stupid things that fly in the face of the court's order. Sautner said Lohan was guilty of "extremely poor judgement by having roof parties while on home confinement" but added, "poor judgment is not a violation of your probation." (Lohan threw a rooftop barbeque for her friends last week.)

Prosecutors asked to reinstate mandatory drug and alcohol testing; Sautner declined the request.

The decision came after more than an hour of deliberations between Lohan's legal team and prosecutors in Sautner's chambers. The actress arrived for her 10 a.m. PT hearing in a conservative outfit -- black slacks, black shoes, a button down shirt, her blonde hair pulled back -- a departure from her more revealing recent courtroom attire. Lohan was ordered to court after she failed an alcohol test last week. The L.A. County probation department was under the impression that she was required to take drug and alcohol tests, but upon a closer reading of Lohan's old probation order today, the testing requirement was deemed expired.

That means that technically, Lohan can drink alcohol.

The hearing came as Lohan wraps up her house arrest stint for taking a $2,500 necklace from a Venice, Calif., jewelry store. She's due to be released from house arrest Wednesday.

Although she's stuck in her $2.25 million, 3,000-square-foot Venice Beach mansion, Lohan hasn't flown under the radar. TMZ.com revealed earlier this week that she taped a commercial for the Internet auction site Beezid.com from the confines of her home. Lohan was originally offered $25,000 for the spot but turned that down and settled on an undisclosed payment, plus $10,000 of credit to spend on the site.

Lohan also invited Life & Style magazine into her pad for an interview in which she asserted that she does not keep alcohol in her house.

"When my friends come over, they're not drinking," she said. "Alcohol is not in my house, so it's just not a part of my life."

Lohan said she was really "bummed out" about not being able to go to her little brother's 16th birthday party because of her house arrest sentence. While she's looking forward to starting her court-mandated 480 hours of community service after she's released -- "I want to finish that so I can work in August and September" -- she might not change her club-hopping, late-night partying ways.

The Mean Girls star and her business partner Lorit Simon met with bosses at White Wave International Labs in 2009 to launch a sunless bronzing mist, but the deal fell apart when the group couldn't agree upon a suitable price. Shortly afterwards Lohan released her own product, Sevin Nyne, which was said to be "nearly identical" to the mist she was set to release with the beauty company.

White Wave International Labs and their chemist Jennifer Sunday later filed a lawsuit against the star for allegedly stealing their top secret formula.

However Judge Virginia Hernandez Covington has now ruled in favour of the actress because of lack of jurisdiction, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Troubled star Lindsay Lohan, who completed her house arrest term recently for violating her 2007 DUI probation, said she should never have been sent to jail.

The 25-year-old actress, who was confined to her house for 35 days due to jail overcrowding after allegedly stealing a necklace from a boutique and violating probation terms, said she was treated very harshly, reported Vanity Fair online.

"Unless you're a killer, I don't see a reason to stay there. I never hurt anyone but myself," Lohan said.

The Mean Girls star said that she wants to put all her problems behind her and concentrate on her acting career, after signing up to appear in mob movie Gotti: Three Generations.

"In October, I'll begin work. I hope to spend next year on set," she said.

Lohan who completed a three-month court-ordered rehab stint in January after being released from prison - recently admitted she has made "a lot of mistakes" in her life but blamed them on being young and naive.

"I think that being young and in the position that I was in, you don't really take the time to appreciate what you have. It was all a whirlwind but I'm not a kid anymore. I'm 24 and I've made a lot of mistakes but I feel like if I can just stay focused I can achieve what I want to achieve," Lohan said.

The Lindsay Lohan Indicator

In the never-ending quest for economic and stock-market indicators that provide unique insights ahead of mundane measures such as monetary trends or profit forecasts, students of the markets have looked to such unrelated things as magazine covers or women's skirt lengths.

These unconventional indicators, their supporters say, capture the zeitgeist that drives stock prices. For instance, when magazine editors highlight something in a cover story, they are reflecting that trend. If the cover story highlights an economic trend about, say the booming housing market, property prices probably are close to their peak. As for skirt lengths, short hems supposedly are associated with irrational exuberance for displaying legs that seems to correlate with similar attitudes toward equities.

Let me offer another indicator in the same vein. When a pop culture figure whose public image (or notoriety) is associated with his or her career as a model or in the movies makes a statement regarding an economic or market trend, that trend can fairly reliably be counted upon to reverse. They are at least as redoubtable contrary indicators as, say, editors.

Consider, for example, supermodel Gisele Bundchen. You'll recall her demand in late 2007 to be paid in euros because of the doubtful future of the dollar. But in the financial crisis of 2008-09, the euro plunged about 20%. So, if you sold euros when she was buying, you'd have done well.

Now comes Lindsay Lohan, who's famous mainly for being Lindsay Lohan and her tabloid exploits more than any professional accomplishments I'm aware of. Indeed, I'd never even heard of her until she sued E*Trade (ticker: ETFC) for one of the online broker's popular baby ads that referred to "that milk-aholic Lindsay."
So, as Lohan tweets last week: "Have you guys seen food and gas prices lately? U.S. $ will soon be worthless if the Fed keeps printing money!" Not being among Lindsay's two million followers on Twitter, I found this out from Ed Yardeni, the president and chief investment strategist of Yardeni Research, who includes this in daily briefing with the analysis of the Chinese purchasing managers index.

Turns out Lohan's tweet was sponsored by some company trying to attract traffic to its site, Yardeni points out. Still, she insisted "I actually do care about gas and food prices" in a subsequent tweet, as if to show she has an ear to the vox populi.

While Lohan's plaints certainly ring true on Long Island whence she hails, one wonders if they mark the top tick, as it were, of the concern about monetary and fiscal profligacy.

After all, they came as the Federal Reserve was winding down QE2 -- the purchase of $600 billion of Treasury securities. So, the Fed has stopped "printing money," to use Lohan's locution. As for her observation on the currency market, the U.S. Dollar Index has stabilized around the 75 level since the QE2 approached its final destination last month.

The real threat to the dollar has been the U.S. fiscal situation, which may actually be moving in the right direction. President Obama and Congressional leaders appear to be working to grand budget deal, which would slash the deficit by $4 trillion over the next 10 years through a major cut in entitlements and tax changes, the Wall Street Journal reports Friday.

It's not a done deal, to be sure. But I can't recall both parties being so aligned on fiscal matters since they tried to one-up each other on tax cuts after Ronald Reagan's inauguration. While liberals and conservatives disagree on whether to raise revenues or reduce spending, there is a bipartisan agreement that the federal deficit is simply unsustainable at 10% of gross domestic product. At the same time, states are being forced to put their fiscal houses in order.

Lindsay ought to be happy. My concern, shared by Fed Chairman Bernanke, is that the shift to fiscal austerity is too abrupt while the economy copes with 9% unemployment. There is a difference between a free fall and a glide path.

All kidding aside, Lindsay Lohan did speak for a broad swath of the American public who saw their purchasing power shrink because of their government's policies. Maybe they actually heard her tweet in Washington. In which case, the trade would be to buy America -- that is the dollar -- instead of selling it.

Lindsay Lohan Freed From House Arrest After 35 Days

The actress, 24, completed 35 days of house arrest Wednesday morning. Still, the I Know Who Killed Me star isn't totally off the hook. Lohan still has to complete 480 hours of community service, complete an anti-shoplifting class and comply with other terms of her release.

Lohan's spokesman, Steve Honig, told the Associated Press that the actress is "very focused" on resuming her community service, which includes volunteering at a downtown Los Angeles women's shelter and cleaning the county morgue.

In May, the troubled starlet was sentenced to four months in jail for violating her probation in a 2007 drunken driving case when she stole a necklace from a jewelry store earlier this year. Lohan pleaded no contest to the theft and received no additional penalties, but will remain on probation for several more months.Last week, the actress appeared in court after failing a sobriety test earlier this month. Judge Stephanie Sautner determined that while Lohan did test positive for alcohol, she did not violate her probation, as a previous judge only required drug and alcohol testing between January 3 - February 25, 2011.

"If you are guilty of some violation of your probation, I don't see it. What you are guilty of is extremely poor judgment," Sautner told her. "Don't give people a reason to hate you."

It got as much publicity as the OJ Simpson case in the United States and the acquittal last night of single mum Casey Anthony on the murder of her daughter, is dividing spectators in just the same way.

As troubled actress Lindsay Lohan was suggested today to play troubled mum Anthony, legal experts continued debating the sensational verdict of the jury.

Former Michigan Prosecutor Carl Marlinga said the verdict was: 'Like the OJ Simpson case - a clear failure of the jury system. ''Just because we say the jury system we have is the best, that doesn’t make it perfect,” he said.On Fox, MSNBC, CNN and local channels the trial has been covered wall-to-wall over the last 35 days. Few legal experts predicted the acquittal of Anthony (25) for the murder of her daughter Caylee (2).

She wept last night as the judge read the verdict, which jurors reached after less than 11 hours of deliberation over two days. She was charged with first-degree murder, which could have brought the death penalty if she had been convicted.

Instead, she was convicted of only four counts of lying to investigators looking into the June 2008 disappearance of her daughter Caylee. Her body was found in the woods six months later and a medical examiner was never able to determine how she died.

"This jury ignored the scientific evidence," said New York lawyer Susan Moss. "Apparently, they found the only 12 people who still think the world is flat."

The jurors in the case declined to speak to the media as did four alternate jurors.

The fifth, Russell Huekler, agreed with the verdict "wholeheartedly."

"The prosecution did not prove their case," Huekler said. "The big question that was not answered: How did Caylee die?"

Anthony will be sentenced by the judge in Orlando, Florida, tomorrow and most commentators were surprised that her defence team did not seek immediate release from jail on bail for her. She has served three years in prison awaiting trial and is unlikely to get more jail time for lying.

"I would be surprised if she doesn't walk out of the courtroom," said Atlanta defence lawyer Penny Douglas Furr. "She has served so much time already. I don't think the judge will make her serve any more time. The real question now is, what will she do next."

So what now for Casey Anthony? You can bet your bottom dollar there will be a book and possible movie deals, with some already predicting that Lindsay Lohan would be ideal to play the role of the troubled mother.

And there will be no problems legally for Anthony to profit from the details of this case. She is free to cash in on deals for movies, books or interviews, say the analysts.

This is because she has been acquitted and so the Son of Sam laws - laws designed to keep criminals from earning money from their crimes - do not apply.

"Why can't she make money off of her story?" asked Drew Findling, another defence lawyer. "You've seen so many cases where witnesses for the prosecution have profited from the case. Look at the O.J. Simpson case and how the prosecutor, who lost the case, wrote books and made money afterwards. So why can't Casey do it?"

On one chat show this week, it was suggested that Casey is set up to make over a million dollars off the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee.

Facebook and Twitter are agog with speculation about what happens next in the soap opera case.

The trial became a macabre tourist attraction in Orlando. People camped outside for seats in the courtroom, and scuffles broke out among those desperate to watch the drama unfold.

But outside the courthouse yesterday, there was no unanimous outpouring of sympathy for her as many in the crowd of 500 reacted with anger, chanting, "Justice for Caylee!" One man yelled, "Baby killer!"

The seven -week proceedings featured allegations of sexual abuse, questions regarding Anthony's competence and various theories on what happened to Caylee.

The prosecution's case was that Anthony used chloroform to render her daughter unconscious and then duct-taped her mouth and nose to suffocate her. They set out a case where the mother put the child's body in the trunk of her car for a few days before disposing of it.

Anthony's defence attorneys took the line that Caylee was not murdered at all. They said the child drowned in the Anthony's above-ground pool on July 16, and that Anthony and her father, George, panicked upon finding her there and tried to cover up the death.

Jose Baez, Anthony's attorney, also alleged that her father sexually abused her from the age of 8 and she had been taught to conceal her pain. The upbringing helped to explain some of Anthony's bizarre behaviour during the time her daughter was missing, he argued.

Further into the testimony it was claimed that Anthony was not looking frantically for her missing child as she later relayed in her account to police.

Instead she moved out of her parents' home and stayed with her then-boyfriend, Tony Lazzaro. She also got a tattoo saying "Bella Vita" - Italian for "beautiful life" - and went shopping, witnesses said. She also partied at Orlando nightclubs and participated in a "hot body" contest at one point.

Her father George Anthony denied the molestation claim in testimony, and stressed:, "I would never do anything like that to my daughter."

During the hearing, the distress experienced by Anthony's family was evident and both her parents sobbed on the stand at times recalling their granddaughter.

George Anthony also broke down as he recalled his January 2009 suicide attempt in testimony, which came shortly after Caylee's remains were identified.

After the verdict, the parents released a statement saying they wished to "move forward privately" and requested the media respect their privacy.

"While the family may never know what has happened to Caylee Marie Anthony, they now have closure for this chapter of their life. They will now begin the long process of rebuilding their lives," the parents said.

If Anthony is released tomorrow , it is still not known if she plans to rebuild her relationship with her parents.

The verdict could divide people for years to come, just as the Simpson case in the mid-1990s did, with some believing Anthony got away with murder.

The actress was sentenced to 120 days in prison and 480 hours community service at the end of a preliminary hearing on a jewellery theft charge. However, according to the sheriff department's website she was freed on $75,000 bail after five hours in custody on Friday night.

A judge in Los Angeles had earlier ordered her to stand trial in June on a reduced misdemeanor charge of stealing a $2,500 necklace in January.But she was taken from court to begin her sentence by sheriff's deputies officials after it was ruled the jewellery case was a probation violation.

"She is to serve 120 days...forthwith," judge Stephanie Sautner said.

Although Miss Lohan has denied theft and friends have said she believed the necklace was on loan, judge Sautner said the evidence suggested she meant to steal it.

"I see the intent here and I see the level of brazenness with 'let me see what I can get away with,'" judge Sautner said.

The Mean Girls star has been in and out of rehab, jail and courtrooms since 2007.

Once considered among the most promising young actresses in Hollywood, Lohan's career has come to a virtual halt.

However, it emerged this week she may have won a role in film about mafia kingpin John Gotti Snr.

A stoic Lindsay Lohan was ordered to jail Friday on a probation violation connected to the alleged theft of a necklace, but she also scored a victory as a judge reduced the theft charge from a felony to a misdemeanor.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Stephanie Sautner ruled that Lohan violated her 2007 drunk-driving probation by wearing a gold chain out of a Venice jewelry store in January and failing to return it until she learned that detectives were preparing to serve a search warrant.Sautner gave her 120 days in jail, plus 480 hours of community service. Lohan was impassive as sheriff's deputies led her out of the Airport Courthouse after an afternoon of testimony.

Defense attorney Shawn Holley immediately sought to post the $75,000 bail and filed an appeal of Sautner's decision.

Lohan was processed at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood late Friday and was released on bail shortly after 9 p.m., authorities said.

The actress will remain free until her June 3 trial but will be required to begin fulfilling her community service by working 120 hours at the Los Angeles County morgue and 360 hours at the Downtown Women's Shelter on skid row, the judge ruled.

Sautner said the assignments would give Lohan a real-life look at "how truly needy women and women who have fallen on real hard times have to live."

During daylong testimony Holley told the court that Lohan never intended to steal the $2,500 necklace but accidentally wore it out of the store Jan. 22 after trying it on. A grainy videotape of Lohan's visit to the Venice shop shows "a young woman doing a million different things in a jewelry store.... She is scattered," Lohan's attorney argued.

Although the actress kept the necklace until Feb. 1, it was the act of a person who is "not considerate or courteous," Holley said. "But that doesn't make her a thief."

Prosecutor Danette Meyers said that accepting Holley's explanation would be to accept that there is a "different standard on the Westside" of Los Angeles. "This is garden-variety theft," she told Sautner at the preliminary hearing.

In making her ruling that led to the jail time, the judge said a violation of probation had a lower evidentiary standard than the "beyond a reasonable doubt" required at trial.

Lohan scored a significant victory when the judge reduced the theft charge from a felony to a misdemeanor, eliminating the prospect of a prison sentence. Sautner said that it was typical to reduce crimes for non-celebrities and that Lohan was no different.

Meyers, the prosecutor, said the district attorney's office may appeal the reduction, maintaining that Sautner abused her discretion in taking the action. "It was a felony filing because the defendant was on probation.... She has violated on numerous occasions."

It has been a tumultuous 12 months for the former child star, who was jailed for violating her drunk-driving probation, entered rehab at the Betty Ford Center and then, after pledging she was turning over a new leaf, was arrested on suspicion of theft.

The prosecutor said Lohan demonstrated her intent to steal the $2,500 chain at Kamofie & Co. by exhibiting the same behavior during an earlier visit to the store. In the day's newest revelation, a store employee testified that four days before the alleged necklace theft, Lohan was in the shop and asked to try on a pair of earrings.

She removed one of them but kept the other one in her ear until the clerk reminded her that she was still wearing it, the clerk testified. The shop's owner testified Friday that 10 minutes after she closed her store Jan. 22, she noticed that Lohan had left with the pricey necklace.

Meyers also told the judge that Lohan failed to return the necklace until she saw on the Internet that she was accused of theft.

Last year, Lohan spent three months at the Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage under orders from Superior Court Judge Elden S. Fox in Beverly Hills, who spared the actress jail time in October after Lohan tested positive for drugs while on probation in the DUI case.

An employee at Betty Ford alleged that she was assaulted by the actress during Lohan's time there. Riverside County prosecutors eventually declined to file the case.

Last summer Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in prison and 90 days in an in-patient rehabilitation facility by another Beverly Hills judge for violating the terms of her probation.

Lindsay Lohan signed a two-film deal on Wednesday with the producers of the upcoming John Gotti biopic -- just hours after they said she had been dumped from the project.

"We started the day [thinking] she was not going to be in the film and talks had broken down, and we ended the day with her signing a two-picture deal," Steve Honig, a spokesman for the film's production company Fiore Films, told entertainment website TheWrap.

"You never know what's going to happen in Hollywood," he added.

The 24-year-old had been the top pick for the role of Victoria Gotti in the film about the former head of the Gambino crime family.

She will now play Kimberly Gotti, the wife of John Gotti, Jr., TheWrap reported.
Reports emerged Wednesday that negotiations for the troubled actress to join "Gotti: Three Generations" had broken down due to outlandish demands by her management team.

Honig said it was Lohan herself who resurrected the talks.

"It was over. But Lindsay wanted to do this film so bad that she interceded, and she called up her managers and [...] singlehandedly got everything going again," he told TheWrap.

The film is due to star John Travolta and "Goodfellas" actor Joe Pesci.

The store clerk said she released a surveillance tape. Video footage that had aired on the television show "Entertainment Tonight" showed Lohan texting on her phone, pacing and talking to a store clerk at the shore.

Lohan' lawyer, Shawn Holley, is expected to enlist the help of a jewelry appraiser to try and convince the judge that the necklace is worth less than $2,500, OnTheRedCarpet.com has learned. If its value is determined to be less than $950, the actress' charge could be changed from a felony to a misdemeanor, which would carry a lighter punishment if Lohan is convicted of theft.

The store's owner said she bought the necklace for $850 and marked up the selling price to $2,500.

A judge is also expected to determine during the proceedings whether Lohan has violated her probation. If it is decided that she has, she could be put behind bars for that charge.

Lohan has rejected two plea offers to settle the case.

Lohan's past three stints behind bars have each lasted 84 minutes, 14 days and 15 hours - the last of which occurred in September 2010 after she failed a drug test and wrote about it on her Twitter page.

Meanwhile, Lohan has been trying to advance her acting career. On Thursday, it was announced that she has been cast as Kim Gotti in the new film "Gotti: Three Generations," which stars John Travolta as mob boss John Gotti, Sr., her character's father-in-law.

The actress was previously in talks to portray the late mob boss' daughter Victoria.

Fiore Films, an independent production company, said in a statement obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com that Lohan had agreed to a two-picture deal with the firm - "Gotti: Three Generations" and "Mob Street."
